The Rockies’ season of great expectations has crash-landed, and all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado is carrying the weight of that disappointment.
“It’s been hard,” Arenado said Wednesday before the Rockies lost 5-1 to the Dodgers at Coors Field. “Going through this, it’s been really difficult … It’d be a really hard thing to overcome now.”
Arenado was, of course, referring to Colorado’s playoff hopes — once bright during spring training, but now all but extinguished. After Wednesday’s loss, the reeling Rockies are 50-59 and sit eight games out of the National League’s second wild-card spot.
