Nolan Arenado has heard the chants of “MVP! MVP!” serenading him at Coors Field. He appreciates the support, but, he said, “Awards are nice, but that’s not what I play for. I just keep doing the work and let all of the rest of that stuff take care of itself.”
The approach is working.
Last week, Arenado was named National League player of the week. Wednesday, he was named NL player of the month for July. It was the second time he has earned the award. He also was honored in September 2015.
