The Rockies are likely calling up Brendan Rodgers for Friday’s game against the Phillies. As a young player drafted out of high school, Rodgers’ development in the minor leagues has been a long process. However, he’s been showing great promise with the Isotopes this season, particularly with his consistent hitting. He was certainly on the track to get called up sooner or later, but Trevor Story’s knee injury might be partially responsible for the timing. If Story doesn’t go to the IL, though, Pat Valaika seems the likeliest candidate for returning to Albuquerque.
