Newman: If Rockies are to rebound, their unestablished bullpen arms must rise to an enormous task

Amid the purple-tinted takes by Rockies players at the team’s recent fan fest, and in light of owner Dick Monfort‘s bold prediction of 94 wins, there’s a small cast of unheralded players who just might be able to make Colorado’s unlikely turnaround occur.

It’s an octet of relievers who, while very much looking to still firmly establish themselves as big-leaguers, could make the difference between contention and implosion for the Rockies in 2020.

Four of those pitchers — right-handers Jairo Diaz, Carlos Estevez, Yency Almonte and Jesus Tinoco — are familiar faces from last year’s roster.
