With the help of the Colorado Rockies, Major League Baseball is committing time and money to several organizations in the Denver metro through its All-Star Legacy initiative.
The annual program for the All-Star host city is designed to leave a lasting impact on the community.
The program will attempt to do so through grants to Children’s Hospital Colorado, Denver’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program, Denver Public Schools Foundation, John F. Kennedy High School, Judi’s House, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), Challenge America and J. Churchill Owen Boys & Girls Club.
Jim Kellogg, the leader of the Colorado Rockies community affairs department, said the sped-up timeline of this year’s midsummer classic did not affect how the money was allocated.
