SAN FRANCISCO — Mike Dunn has a shelf of baseballs at his home in Las Vegas marking 100 strikeouts — and 200 and 300. The milestones have become routine. But he still needs a heads-up.
“Normally it’s my wife who will send me a text,” Dunn said Sunday. “But I heard somebody say something when we were at Coors Field last week. I knew I was getting close. Whenever it happens, I’ll be ready. Eventually we’ll get there.”
Colorado reliever Dunn charged into a tight eighth inning Sunday at AT&T Park with the Rockies ahead 4-3. The San Francisco Giants had their leadoff batter, Aaron Hill, on first base.
