Melville Mania landed in LoDo Monday afternoon, but Ryan McMahon stole the show.
McMahon hit a walk-off, two-run homer to lift the Rockies to a 3-1 victory over Atlanta at Coors Field. McMahon lined a 1-1 fastball off left-hander Jerry Blevins into the right-field seats.
Tim Melville, the soft-tossing, journeyman starter, pitched five scoreless innings to help the Rockies snap the Braves’ eight-game winning streak. The Rockies, stymied at the plate all day by starter Julio Teheran, pushed across a run in the eighth off reliever Chris Martin. Catcher Dom Nunez led off with a double, advanced to third on pinch hitter Yonder Alonso’s groundout and scored on Charlie Blackmon‘s sacrifice fly to right.
