Mark Reynolds, hitting home runs at a metronome clip, has made a habit of jogging around the bases. When a flyball unexpectedly dropped into the Coors Field grass Sunday in the sixth inning, Reynolds, for a change, started trucking.
The Rockies held a 1-0 lead when Diamondbacks right fielder David Peralta tripped and recovered, then lost Trevor Story‘s bloop in the sun. Reynolds, from first base, rounded the infield and slid arms-first into home in a game-breaking, three-run inning.
“I was about to fall down anyway, so I might as well try to miss the tag,” Reynolds said.
