MILWAUKEE — Mark Reynolds had choices. The Rockies are really glad he chose them.
The veteran first baseman belted a two-run homer and drove in three runs in Colorado’s 7-5 opening-day victory over Milwaukee Monday.
Reynolds had offers from several other big-league teams during the offseason. He even had a chance to go to Korea and play for $3 million. He never even considered it.
Instead he returned to Colorado, even though the club had signed Ian Desmond to play first base, giving Desmond a five-year, $70 million contract. And even though Reynolds came to camp as a non-roster invitee with a minor-league contract.
