Leadoff long ball is shortstop's first of season

Free-agent first baseman Mark Reynolds has agreed to a Minor League deal with the Nationals, pending a physical, a source confirmed to MLB.com's Jamal Collier. MLB Network insider Jon Heyman was the first to report the signing. The club has not confirmed.

Reynolds, 34, spent the last two seasons with the Rockies and hit .267 with 30 home runs -- his most since 2011 -- in 2017. He was frequently rumored to be in discussions to rejoin the Rockies this winter.
