Rockies southpaw Kyle Freeland mimicked southpaw Tyler Anderson on Saturday night. That was not a good thing.
The result was a Coors Field walk in the park for the streaking Arizona Diamondbacks, who routed the Rockies 9-2 for the ninth win in their last 11 games.
Anderson, 0-3 and the owner of an 11.76 ERA, was sent down to Triple-A Albuquerque after Arizona hammered him for six runs on seven hits, including two home runs, over four-plus innings in Colorado’s 9-8 loss on Friday night.
The Rockies were hopeful that Freeland, their opening-day starter and most-accomplished pitcher last season, could cool off the Diamondbacks.
