From manager Bud Black’s point of view, Kyle Freeland pitched with “a lot of heart and a lot of grit” in the Rockies’ 5-3 win over the Giants Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field.
The left-hander also pitched with a chip on his shoulder.
Well aware that the Giants had defeated the Rockies 12 consecutive times, Freeland took the mound with an aggressive game plan.
“The Giants have had our number over the past year or so and they have somewhat dominated us, similar to what the Dodgers have done over the years,” Freeland said. “It was one of those games where we needed to stop that, we needed to start turning the trend in our favor.
