On Kyle Freeland’s second pitch of the night — an 0-1, 87 mph changeup — A.J. Pollock ripped a home run to left field. And so began the latest avalanche of pitching trouble to bury the Rockies and push them to the edge of negative history.

Freeland, who was coming off a promising start at Washington, was crushed by the Dodgers, who cruised to a 9-4 victory Tuesday night at Coors Field.

In 3u2154 innings, Freeland gave up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits. He walked three, didn’t strike out any and his ERA rose to 7.
