After years of bad baseball, there’s a brighter tomorrow for the Rockies. But will manager Walt Weiss get to see it?
“This is my 25th year in the major leagues. So I guess I’m approaching ‘lifer’ status,” Weiss said Friday.
We sat together in the Colorado dugout, basking in the fading sunshine of summer, well aware of the northerly breeze blowing in a change of seasons. The onset of autumn reminds any guy past his 50th birthday that nothing lasts forever. “How long you going to keep writing? Until you’re 102?” cracked Weiss, taking aim in the exchange of friendly barbs we’ve enjoyed for two decades.
