CINCINNATI — The Rockies scratched left-hander Jorge De La Rosa from his scheduled start Tuesday against the Reds at Great American Ballpark because of a cut on his pitching hand, the team said.
Colorado recalled Chris Rusin from Triple-A Albuquerque to start in De La Rosa's place.
De La Rosa, the veteran who became the Rockies all-time leader in strikeouts last week, avoided the disabled list for now. Instead, the Rockies sent down long reliever Yohan Flande to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Rusin.
The cut, on De La Rosa's left middle finger, showed up before his last start, a four-plus inning outing that resulted in a no-decision.
