Jordan Patterson is a player on the move in the Rockies' farm system, and from here on when he packs his bags, he will throw in two gloves.
One of the gloves is for playing the outfield. Patterson is listed as an outfielder on the roster of the New Britain (Conn.) Rock Cats in the Double-A Eastern League. He has made his mark so far as a corner outfielder. But now he also will have a first baseman's mitt.
Ron Gideon, the Rockies' development supervisor for New Britain, believes first base could become an important part of Patterson's future.
