Glenallen Hill called Jon Gray into the cramped visiting manager's office in Fresno on Sunday evening. The Albuquerque Isotopes skipper delivered the news, but without saying a word.
"He handed me a plane ticket," Gray said at Coors Field on Monday afternoon.
"Do you know what this means?" Hill asked.
"Yeah," Gray said.
"Don't change. Just go up there and be yourself."
Gray, the Rockies' prized pitching prospect, will make his much anticipated major league debut Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners at Coors Field. The No. 3 overall draft pick in 2013 out of the University of Oklahoma had no indication he was getting called up.
