Cubs 3, Rockies 0
At Sloan Park
MESA, Ariz. — Jon Gray picked off Kris Bryant and whiffed Anthony Rizzo in the first inning Saturday at Sloan Park. Then he really excelled. The Rockies right-hander, the pitcher atop their rotation, zipped through three innings against the Chicago Cubs in a final spring tuneup.
Gray faced the minimum and saw the Cubs lineup once through in three innings. He gave up one hit, a single up the middle to Bryant, and no runs. After 28 pitches, Gray then threw 20 more in the bullpen to reach a preset pitch count.
