Jon Gray promotion not on horizon

Considering that the Rockies are in last place in the National League West, the potential big-league debut of top prospect Jon Gray figures to be one of the most anticipated events of the second half of the season.

Just don't expect the right-hander's promotion to come during this homestand. Manager Walt Weiss said the Rockies — with an off day Thursday — will stick with a four-man rotation, at least until their July 28 game at Chicago's Wrigley Field. Even after that date, Gray likely will continue pitching for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

"I think (pitch) efficiency is one thing he's working on, but there are other things," general manager Jeff Bridich said Monday.
