BALTIMORE — Wednesday night’s game started off as a pitching duel between two Oklahoma kids.
Rockies right-hander Jon Gray, born in Chandler, vs. Orioles’ right-hander Dylan Bundy, born in Tulsa. In the end, Gray was the best man standing, pitching seven gritty innings in Colorado’s 3-1 victory at hot and steamy Camden Yards.
Add on huge home runs by Nick Hundley and rookie David Dahl, and mix in a highlight-reel throw by right fielder Carlos Gonzalez, and it added up to one of the Rockies’ most satisfying victories of the season. Colorado, winners of six of its last seven, took two of three from the Orioles at Camden.
