If there were a surprise addition to the Colorado Rockies in 2024, it was the one-year signing of Jacob Stallings.
It wasn’t that the Rockies had signed another veteran backup catcher — Black’s preference for veterans has long been clear. The surprise came in which Stallings bought to the team.
He had never been much at the plate, but after working a bit with Rockies hitting coach Hensley Meulins, Stallings slugged his way into the starting job, especially after Elias Díaz struggled to recover from an hamstring injury.
