It’s time for the SimRockies to change their closer.
If Purple Row’s sim has been accurate about anything, it’s the volatility of Wade Davis’s pitching. After giving up a 374-foot home run to the Padres’ Francisco Mejia that took the Rockies to extra innings and, ultimately a 5-4 victory, Friday’s implosion against the D-Backs. Jeff Hoffman, Jake McGee, Carlos Estévez, and Scott Oberg all did their jobs, leaving Davis with a comfortable three-run lead. Alas, it was not enough. Jairo Díaz came in to mop up the mess, but the Rockies still ended up losing on a walk-off by Eduardo Escobar.
