SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Mark Reynolds is still the same Sheriff of Swattingham of old, a 6-foot-2, 220-pounder capable of mashing pitches well out of the yard.
But now a 12-year Major League veteran in his second stint with the Rockies, Reynolds has evolved. That’s why he’s still hanging around, having this winter signed a minor-league deal with Colorado and likely to make the 25-man roster as a potent right-handed bat off the bench.
“My approach has changed over the years, my loading and timing mechanism has changed,” Reynolds said. “The biggest thing I’m most proud of is the way I’ve been able to adapt and change to still have a job and keep my career going.
