DENVER -- The Rockies powered their way back atop the National League Wild Card standings while dealing Matt Garza and the Brewers a tough start to a critical three-city road trip.
Big nights from Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez led the Rockies over the Brewers, 8-4, Friday night at Coors Field. The left-handed outfielders both homered to the opposite field against Garza in the early innings, with Gonzalez's home run knocking Garza out of the game in the fifth.
The Rockies have a one-game lead over the D-backs, who lost to the Twins on Friday, for the top NL Wild Card spot.
