Homeless advocates plan to protest recent sweeps of homeless encampments in Denver with a demonstration Friday at the Colorado Rockies home opener.
Denver Homeless Out Loud announced the 12:30 p.m. demonstration Thursday in a media release.
The advocacy group says the sweeps are detrimental to the welfare of homeless people, "causing sleep deprivation leading to long term chronic illnesses," and other adverse affects.
"Moving visible homeless people 'away' — out of sight, out of mind — does not solve the crisis of homelessness in Denver," the group said.
