Hochman: Eddie Butler's hometown is a baseball hotbed

Is this heaven?

No, it's Virginia.

Three doors down from Eddie Butler's childhood home, his buddy's family had a ballfield built on their farm.

"He moved in when I was 9, and it was awesome — we'd play 3-on-3 baseball with tennis balls, so it wouldn't fly as far," the Rockies rookie said. "We were there all the time."

Butler grew up in Chesapeake, Va., which along with Virginia Beach makes up what's called Hampton Roads. It's baseball heaven, as they describe it, and they field dream teams there. The boys play a bunch of ball, and they never seem to stop.
