CHICAGO -- Needing bullpen length and depth with righty Christian Bergman making a spot-start against the Cubs Saturday afternoon, the Rockies summoned right-hander David Hale from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed catcher Nick Hundley on the seven-day concussion disabled list.
Hale, 28, was viewed as a competitor for a starting rotation spot going into Spring Training, but he suffered an early right hamstring injury and never became a factor. Hale made two starts at Albuquerque while building his pitch count. In the first start, he gave up one run over four innings and threw 72 pitches.
