Gray strikes out 4 Padres in second inning

No matter. Gray, pitching with a 4-0 lead thanks to two-run home runs from Nolan Arenado and Murphy off Padres starter Edwin Jackson in the second, fanned Oswaldo Arcia swinging and Derek Norris looking.

The strikeout of Arcia was the 200th of Gray's Major League career, which began last August. The 24-year-old struck out six straight Padres after sitting down the first two batters he faced in the third on strikes.

Gray's was the third four-strikeout inning in Rockies history.

On Sept. 19, 1995 at San Diego, Darren Holmes -- now the Rockies' bullpen coach -- fanned two and Bryan Hickerson two more.
