Tonight’s game was not good. The Rockies kicked off the post-Jeff Bridich era with a 12-0 loss to the Giants. Anthony DeSclafani threw a complete game shutout. Austin Gomber never got settled and gave up nine runs in less than two innings. Just a complete start-to-finish blowout that we hadn’t seen up to this point.
Giants ambush Gomber early
Before today, Austin Gomber had not allowed more than three runs in any of his first four starts. Today he had almost the worst day a starting pitcher could have. He began the game with a strikeout but immediately had this sequence: single, walk, passed ball, single, double, single, RBI groundout, strikeout.
