In the aftermath of being passed over in Game 7 of the World Series, Houston Astros ace Gerrit Cole looked to his own personal future after the team’s loss to the Washington Nationals, and it’s one that does not likely include the Astros.
Cole was reluctant to do a postgame interview, telling officials, “Do I have to do it? Technically, I’m unemployed.”
He did comply “as a representative of myself,” saying, “It was a pleasure to play in Houston,” but note that he used the past tense. And the future free agent sported a cap that bore the logo of his agent, Scott Boras, rather than one with the team’s logo.
