SAN DIEGO — Looking to snap a five-game losing streak, the Colorado Rockies needed some kind of spark on Sunday afternoon at sun-splashed Petco Park. German Marquez provided that on the mound and at the plate.
Marquez struck out nine while scattering five hits over eight innings and also adding an RBI single in the decisive sixth inning as the Rockies ended their six-game road trip on a winning note with an 8-3 victory. The win snapped a four-game losing streak to the Padres and kept the Rockies from suffering their first four-game sweep to San Diego since 1999.
