Even Dante Bichette must have muttered a double-take "whaaa?" when the Rockies signed left fielder Gerardo Parra to a three-year contract in January. Coors Field's lineage of left fielders includes the hefty-hitting Bichette (274 career home runs) and Matt Holliday (275 career homers).
Parra, no stranger to Colorado baseball after years playing in the National League West for Arizona, had never hit a home run at Coors Field.
When he strode to the batter's box in the fifth inning Thursday against San Francisco pitcher Matt Cain, Parra dug in for his 214th plate appearance at 20th and Blake.
