The Rockies open their 2019 regular season Thursday in Miami, against a team that lost a National League-worst 98 games and finished in the cellar of the East division last season. Here’s five insights into Colorado’s four-game series against the Marlins.
Jose Urena toes the rubber. As the ace pitcher on the staff, Urena (9-12, 3.98 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 2018) will be the first Marlin to start consecutive opening days since Josh Johnson took the ball for three straight from 2010-12. The 27-year-old right-hander has been taken deep twice by Nolan Arenado in 13 total at-bats against the third baseman while also surrendering five RBIs.
