DJ LeMahieu jump-started the Coors Field crowd early in Friday night’s series-opening loss to the Dodgers, roping a first-inning double off Los Angeles ace Clayton Kershaw to give the Rockies their opening hit.
Then, in the second, LeMahieu’s slick glove-side snag on a sharply smoked, short-hopped ball by Joc Pederson catalyzed a 4-6-3 double play to get the Rockies out of a jam and the inning.
But as longtime Colorado TV play-by-play announcer Drew Goodman likes to say: Take a good look, you won’t see it for long.
Only this particular Goodman catchphrase isn’t about home runs, the context which he usually uses it in.
