A pair of right-handed pitchers are going to the Rockies in the first round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft, according to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel’s mock draft.
McDaniel projects Colorado to select sinkerball pitchers Emerson Hancock of Georgia and Carmen Mlodzinski of South Carolina with their first two picks.
On Hancock going at the No. 9 overall pick, McDaniel writes: “He’s unusual in that he’s a righty with a changeup as his out pitch, his 2020 performance was just OK, and most top scouts didn’t see him in 2019 because he didn’t pitch over the summer or at the SEC tournament.
