The Rockies finally pulled the trigger on a move that's been a possibility since spring training.
The club designated outfielder Drew Stubbs for assignment Wednesday and called up versatile outfielder Matt McBride from Triple-A Albuquerque. In a corresponding move, McBride was added to the 40-man roster.
McBride is available for Wednesday night's game against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
Stubbs, 30, has hit a bit better recently, but he's struggled much of the season with a high number of strikeouts and a lack of production at the plate. Stubbs is hitting .216 with five home runs, 10 RBIs and an on-base percentage of just .
