Dodgers jump on Chad Bettis early, cruise over Rockies

LOS ANGELES — After every hometown victory at Dodger Stadium, “I Love L.A.,” Randy Newman’s infectious pop classic, blares out of the speakers.

After the first inning Saturday night, hearing Newman warble “Crank up the Beach Boys … Century Boulevard … Santa Monica Boulevard” seemed like a forgone conclusion. That’s how good the Dodgers are playing at home right now and how poorly the Rockies’ offense is performing.

L.A. staked itself to a 2-0 lead in the first inning off Colorado starter Chad Bettis and never looked back, rolling to a 6-1 victory.

It was the Dodgers’ eighth consecutive win at home, and they won for the 13th time in their last 18 games.
