SAN FRANCISCO — DJ LeMahieu, the Rockies’ all-star second baseman, not only has a sprained left thumb, but he also has a small broken bone that will keep him on the disabled list for an undetermined length of time.
LeMahieu said the injury will not require surgery, but acknowledged that he will be on the DL for longer than 10 days.
“There is a small fracture,” he said Thursday, prior to Colorado’s game against the Giants. “Thankfully, there is no need for surgery, just rest. I’ll hopefully pick up a bat very soon.”
It’s positive news for LeMahieu that there is no ligament damage.
