DJ LeMahieu is many things: Gold Glove second baseman, quiet, smart, intuitive on the diamond and the ultimate team player.
He has also evolved into a more powerful hitter. He entered Friday night’s game vs. Arizona leading the Rockies with a team-high .324 average. He had belted four home runs, so bypassing his career-high of six should be easy.
But LeMahieu’s power isn’t homer power, it’s line-drive gap power. Since May 13, he had hit .357. His four triples were tied for the most in the National League over that span, and his 11 doubles were tied for fifth.
