A bumpy baseball road is the only one DJ Johnson has ever known.
When the 29-year-old rookie right-hander was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on April 29, after making his first big-league, opening-day roster in his nine-year professional career, he took the demotion in stride.
“With the Isotopes, I worked on attacking the zone, getting my confidence back and trying to find my curveball a bit,” Johnson said. “I was working on some mechanical issues, and doing whatever I could to get back here.”
Johnson’s command was problematic in his first stint with the club this year, as he had nine walks in 12 appearances along with a 5.
