Colorado Rockies outfielder David Dahl broke the Rockies franchise record and tied an MLB record set in 1941 by Chuck Aleno by recording a hit Thursday afternoon in the 17th straight game to begin his career.
Dahl accomplished the feat the in the first inning with a single bringing his average at the time of the hit to .375, or 24 hits in 17 games. Dahl passed Juan Pierre who had previously held the Rockies franchise record at 16 consecutive games with a hit to start his career in 2000.
Dahl has inserted himself very quickly as one of the most important Rockies rookies in a class that includes Jon Gray, Trevor Story, Tyler Anderson, Carlos Estevez, and Tony Wolters.
