Catcher Drew Butera and first baseman Yonder Alonso added veteran presences to the Colorado Rockies roster in 2019 and both are now free agents. With those transactions, as well as the five made by the Rockies earlier in the week, Colorado has 34 players on its 40-man roster.
More moves will need to be made by the Rockies, including reinstating pitchers Jon Gray and Scott Oberg and infielder Brendan Rodgers from the 60-day injured list, as the 40-man roster continues to shift and evolve with Colorado’s goal of once again reaching the postseason in mind.
