In a bit of a surprising move, the Colorado Rockies are close to avoiding arbitration with shortstop Trevor Story for both this offseason as well as next offseason by agreeing to a two-year deal, according to Mark Feinsand and Jon Morosi of MLB.com. Jeff Passan of ESPN reports on Twitter that the deal is worth $27.5 million.
Story filed for $11.5 million for arbitration and the Rockies went as high as $10.5 million so, if the contract will be split evenly for each year, Story will make more this upcoming season.
If that is the case, the Rockies could be getting themselves a deal as Story could have made even more heading into 2021 depending on how well 2020 goes.
