Colorado Rockies shut out 6-0 in Miami to open series with the Marlins

A rough outing for Rockies starter Chris Rusin combines with a weak offensive effort to shut Colorado out of game one.

A double to Martin Prado and a walk to Christian Yelich in the bottom of the first ahead of Giancarlo Stanton set the Rockies up for trouble early. Stanton launched a rocket line drive over the left field fence to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Stanton’s 22 homeruns lead all of baseball.

Miami tacked on two more in the bottom of the second, with RBIs from Yelich and Stanton, to stretch the advantage to 5-0.
