The long streak of NL West match-ups continues
Kyle Kendrick and Jordan Lyles' two straight six-plus inning starts gave the bullpen a much-needed breather after a brutal five game losing streak. Yesterday Lyles went 6.2 innings, struck out four and walked two while inducing ten ground outs. He gave up just the one run.
When Lyles has his fastball command under control he can really shorten up games. His sinker dives down and to the hand-side, inducing weak contact from lefties and righties alike. When he's off, though, he puts too much lateral movement on the fastball and it slides off the plate to the third base side, putting him in bad counts and leading to walks.
