There were plenty of moments that characterized the Rockies’ inept play and frustrations in Philadelphia this week. But perhaps one snapshot best summarized their four-game sweep at the hands of the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
The usually smiling and upbeat Connor Joe slammed his batting helmet to the ground after grounding into an inning-ending double play in the third inning Thursday afternoon. Sam Hilliard had led off with a triple and Dom Nunez drew a walk, and yet the Rockies failed to score.
The Phillies went on to beat the Rockies, 7-1. Over the four-game set, Colorado was outscored 32-9.
