Colorado Rockies rally comes up short, lose to Mariners 8-7

The Rockies managed 18 hits but were unable to overcome an early deficit as they dropped game one against Seattle 8-7.

The Mariners jumped on Eddie Butler rather quickly as they tagged him for four runs in the first inning. Robison Cano and Brad Miller had an RBI single apiece and Jesus Montero drove in two runners with a double.

The Rockies countered in the bottom of the inning when Jose Reyes drove in a run with an RBI single in his first home at bat as a Rockie.
