Each team jumped on the board in the first inning. Trevor Story mashed a line drive over the left-center field wall to give Albuquerque a 1-0 lead, but a two-RBI triple by El Paso in the home half of the first gave the Chihuahuas the lead. It wasn't until the fifth inning when back-to-back doubles from Cristhian Adames and Kyle Parker reignited the Isotopes offense. Adames drove in one run, while Parker picked up two RBI on his double. Tim Smalling then singled in Parker to make it 5-2. Albuquerque added another run in the sixth on an Adames single.
