Vargas boasts a pitch mix that includes a mid-90s fastball, a potential plus curveball, a promising change, and the ability to throw them for strikes consistently. At least, he did before Tommy John surgery wiped out half of 2023 and all of 2024. It remains to be seen if that arsenal is back as he enters his last season before Rule 5 eligibility.
