The Nuts (8-12) stuck for four in the first two innings. The Mavs (9-11) pulled to within one in the second. Correlle Prime came right back in the third with a two-run blast as part of a 3-for-5 day that included two doubles and three runs scored. Jordan Patterson drove in three runs during his 3-for-5 day. Raimel Tapia also crushed his second homer in as many nights. Tapia finished 2-for-4 with a triple as well.
Prime now has seven hits, including two home runs, in his last five games.
Tapia, who is barely 21 years old -- and whose success was met by many with the caveat of his home ballpark in Asheville and a desire to see him succeed in less friendly offensive environments -- now has 25 hits in his first 18 games in Modesto, which might as well be old Petco park.
